DESIGN THINKING
We Teach Mindmapping and Design Thinking
Research shows that educational experiences that are active, social, contextual, engaging, and student-owned lead to deeper learning. Collaborative learning is an essential skill to be competitive in the marketplace.
Collaborative Learning benefits include:
Development of higher-level thinking, oral communication, self-management, and leadership skills
Fosters motivation that empowers students
Increases student retention, self-esteem, and responsibility
Promotion of student-faculty interaction
Preparation for real-life social and employment situations
MINDMAPS
Develops the Six Essential Skills Employers Find Competitive
Collaboration - Communications - Critical Thinking
Interpersonal Skills - Executive Function - Proactivity
Without faculty prompting
Nila, in her role as youth lead, used a decision tree strategy to guide her team to agreeing on the Celebration meal plan
Her strategy involved having each student write down their five favorite meals. She then tallied the results, identified similarities, and together they voted on the top three dishes to serve at the Celebration.
Project Review
Overall the JA-30 Entrepreneurship Community Project 2024 was a success; however, budget constraints limited our ability to fully implement the Volunteer & Peer programming, which would have involved more student recruitment and increased participation from subject matter experts. Additionally, time constraints affected the scope of the student fundraising component. Gaps are currently being reviewed by our team to enhance the programming for the next year.
